28/06/2010 – SERBIA: RESEARCH, 800 MN EUROS INVESTMENTS IN 5 YEARS
BELGRADE – Serbia is to invest 800 million euros over the next five years for technological
research and development. So announced Deputy Premier and Scientific Research Minister, Bozidar Djelic.
Speaking at a conference in Belgrade, Djelic, also Government representative for Serbia’s European Integration issues, specified that 400 million euros will be used to finance
specific projects, whereas the other 400 million will go toward developing infrastructures in the scientific and technological field.
This will allow, as Djelic emphasised, a doubling by 2015 of investments in the field of science and research, approaching 1% of GDP.
At the Belgrade conference, attended by 3,500 sector specialists, researchers and entrepreneurs, Serb President, Boris Tadic, also took the stand to underline that investments in the scientific sector and research signify investing in the country’s economic development and future.
