16/02/2010 – TOURISM: CBC IPA ADRIATIC 2007-2013 TO BIT
The main objectives at the basis of participation in the Program of Cooperation CBC IPA Adriatic are to present a general illustration of opportunities for the development of tourism in the Adriatic region.
The initiative was taken in the light of possibilities of participating in the competitions of the communitarian IPA Adriatic Cross-border Cooperation Programme "CBC IPA Adriatic" (2007-2013), as well as to present the heritage of concrete experiences and models of cooperative intervention for the development of tourism, implemented in the preceding phase of communitarian programming for 2006-2007, in the sphere of the Interreg III Adriatic Cross-border Operational Programme.
Nations and regions will participate at this Program, at the International Travel Fair (BIT ‘Borsa Internazionale del Turismo) held in Milan from February 18-21 of this year. The protagonists of the important program intend to direct their message mainly to the Institutions and tour operators, as potential beneficiaries of the financing of "IPA Adriatic". Participation by a communitarian program in Milan’s "BIT" is an absolute novelty in experiences of this type. During the three days of the "IPA Adriatic" world fair, there will be various corners that can be visited.
The main attractions are the initiatives regarding the plan of communication, and represented by the workshop under the title "The IPA Adriatic program for an integrated development of tourism in the Adriatic", scheduled February 18 at 4:30pm in the stand set up by the Region of Abruzzo, which kicks off the program.
At the event, aimed at offering greater visibility to the Program and to its potential activities in the tourism sector, there will participate, among other groups, the regional assessor for Culture, Mauro Di Dalmazio, and the representatives of IPA Adriatic’s foreign partners. Space will also be given for the exposition of the characteristics of some of the best tourism projects financed in the area of Interreg III A. On February 19, in the IPA space, the president of the Abruzzo Regione, Gianni Chiodi, will also make an appearance.
The INTERREG III Adriatic Cross-border Operational Programme, "IPA Adriatic", involves eight states: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and Greece, as well as seven regions: in addition to Abruzzo, there will participate Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Apulia and Molise.
It has an overall endowment of roughly 280 million euro and aims to harmonize the Adriatic cross-border area in the name of cooperation, both economic and institutional, as well as in the areas of culture, tourism, the environment, and infrastructure. 153,000 visitors are expected to participate at the "BIT", 101,000 of these professional operators and 52,800 tourists, from over 150 countries.
